A note from the founder
Why I'm building Nasab
I am a new father. My daughter just turned two, and lately I have found myself thinking a lot about the stories she will grow up hearing.
My father has a few horror stories from his childhood, the kind he still gets excited to tell every single time. I have heard them so often they almost feel like my own memories. One day I wondered: will my daughter ever hear these stories the way I did, in her grandfather's own voice, or will he just be a name she reads somewhere one day?
That question stayed with me. Then my brother sent me a family tree he and my uncle had built years ago. Twelve generations, mapped out entirely in Excel, one branch at a time, taking them almost a month to put together, and he'd found it sitting forgotten in an old email.
Around the same time, I remembered how my father used to track every birthday and anniversary on a printout tucked inside his cupboard. He would check it almost every day, just to make sure he never missed wishing someone in the family a happy birthday or anniversary.
A tree buried in an Excel file. A list stuck inside a cupboard. Stories that live only in memory. Our families carry so much history and love, but rarely one real place to keep it.
That is why I started building Nasab: a proper home for that old Excel file, a family tree everyone can keep adding to, memory albums for your family's photos, videos, and voices, and reminders for birthdays and anniversaries, so no one needs a paper list in a cupboard anymore.
I hope Nasab becomes the place where your family's stories get to live on. And selfishly, I hope it means that one day, my daughter can hear her grandfather tell his stories in his own words, just as excited to tell them as he always is.
Nasab is still growing, and there is a lot more I want to add. If you have any feedback, ideas, or a story of your own you would like to share, I would genuinely love to hear from you at tappstudio.in@gmail.com.
With love,
